Mansion Global's Listing of the Day
8 Cherry Hills Park Drive - Listed by Sandy Weigand of Kentwood Real Estate DTC
Listing of the Day
Location: Englewood, Colorado
Price: $22 million
For $22 million, you can live like Mike Shanahan, one of the most well-known NFL coaches of all time. The Denver-area home of the former head coach of the Denver Broncos, the Los Angeles Raiders and the Washington Redskins is for sale. The property has been host to fundraisers, parties and team cookouts for years.
The Shanahans have lived in the home since it was built in 2008, and have enjoyed it as their family has grown, said Sandy Weigand, associate broker at the Kentwood Co.
"They’re really connected with it and it means so much to them," she said. "Their goal was to enjoy their home with their family of seven grandchildren. They built the house with a kids’ suite that sleeps four grandchildren."
The home features geo-thermal as well as radiant heat, and all the high-tech bells and whistles that can be found in today’s modern homes, including smart home features by Vantage. Each bedroom has a fireplace and there are multiple areas from which to entertain.
"The reason I enjoyed the house is you can use it and you don’t have to go anyplace else. It’s great for entertainment," Mr. Shanahan said. "We’ve got the room and we have people over. It relates well to us."
And the setting offers tranquility, he said. "You can see all the mountains and the topography around. It’s very private, it’s guarded. We’ve got trails behind our house along the High Line Canal. You can take horses on it all the way through Denver."
This multi-level, 30,000-square-foot property features six bedrooms, 13 baths and over four acres of grounds featuring gorgeous views, a pool and a garage with space for at least seven cars.
The property, obviously, has many additional features worth noting, from a first-floor multi-sport gaming area (golf, bowling, etc.) to a pool complete with his-and-hers dressing areas.
The grounds feature waterfalls and fountains as well as a guest house. There’s a terrace and a pizza oven in one of the entertainment areas in the home.
Peggy Shanahan designed many aspects of the home, and worked with artisans and craftspeople from all over the world to bring her vision to life. In the Grand Atrium Room, for example, the tile floor was designed by Ms. Shanahan, created and built in Italy and flown to Denver for installation.
"I just love the atrium room. When you walk in the front door it’s very open," she said. "We have a lot of our gatherings in that room."
The Conservatory was crafted by Amdega Conservatories in England before being shipped to the property.
The home was built in 2008 by Mesa Properties, which, according to Ms. Weigand, is the most renowned builder in Denver.

The property is located about 15 minutes outside of Denver in a secluded, quiet area that is perfect for sports and outdoor enthusiasts, Ms. Weigand said. The High Line Canal, a 71-mile urban trail adjacent to a man-made irrigation canal, is just minutes from the property. It’s popular for walking and jogging, and features panoramic mountain views.
The home is also directly across the street from Cherry Hills, the most prestigious Country Club in Colorado.
